今日分享许渊冲经典诗词译文，以缅怀和致敬这位值得尊敬的学者。
有时人生真不如一句陶渊明
有时翻译也不过是一句许渊冲
美国诗人弗罗斯特认为“诗是翻译中失去的东西”，直言诗的不可译，钱钟书也曾在信中与许渊冲讨论诗歌翻译之难。而许渊冲显然是鼓足了“偏向虎山行”的劲头。
他有着格外清晰的记忆力，清楚地记得自己第一次把中文诗译成英文，是在1939年翻译林徽因纪念徐志摩的现代诗《别丢掉》，那时候他还是西南联大外文系一年级的学生。许渊冲后来从事诗歌翻译，是在几十年后，出版诗歌译本，则是80年代。
许渊冲一生共有120本译作。在此，我们仅摘录了许老诗词翻译作品中十个片段，希望能和大家一起分享，享受许老文字的美感与翻译的魅力。

在许老看来，翻译是两种语言的竞争，他心中有一个好坏高下的判断标准。今天的我们或许会觉得文学作品的解读因人而异，并没有一个确切的面目。但在许先生那个时代，文学作品是有一个客观存在的：有这么一座城市，有这么一个人物形象⋯⋯它们就在那儿，很具象。
作者使用不同的语言去表达它、描述它，英文也好，法文也好，中文也好，看哪种文字、哪种描述最合适、最好，译者亦然。许先生赋予了翻译更多的创造性，他希望译文比原文更好更生动。
从根本上讲，许先生热爱中国的语言文化，所以在翻译外国小说的时候，他试图让中文表达更地道，翻译中国古诗词时又极力传达原语言的神韵。“翻译是把一个国家创造的美转化为全世界的美”，这是许老常挂在嘴边的话，他的翻译也以“美”为终极目标。许渊冲爱“美”，从青年时代就可见一斑。
见到后学晚辈，许先生总喜欢说起自己的人生信条：“学而时习之，不亦乐乎？我一生就是孔子的这句话。学习到美好的东西，去实践它，去转化它，是多美好的事情。别人承认我也好，不认可我也罢，我是自得其乐。”
