本次PUP邀请了巴塞罗那自治大学（Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona）博士生，GELEA2LT研究小组成员刘禹辰，研究兴趣为视听翻译与媒介可及性。刘禹辰博士将在本次讲座中对视听翻译新模态——口述影像进行介绍，为帮助大家开展该领域研究打开思路。

An Introduction to Audio Description
内容摘要：
In the West, from the 1990s onwards, research on audio description (AD) began to proliferate, and many versions of its definition have been proposed by both AD providers and scholars, mainly from translation studies, notably audiovisual translation (AVT). The underpinning of AD under translation studies goes back to Jakobson’s (1959) definition of intersemiotic translation or transmutation. At the same time, AD is also viewed as a media access service aiming to facilitate access to visual information to persons with sight loss as its primary target group. Although initially considered as part of or equivalent to AVT, there has recently been a call for a universalist account of access concerning all human beings instead of mainly specific groups of people, under which media accessibility (MA) is viewed as an independent discipline under the broader accessibility studies (AS), which intersects with AVT (Greco, 2018, 2019; Greco & Jankowska, 2019). This presentation will begin by showing how AD can be conceptualised as both a translation modality and a MA service. It will be followed by a snapshot of AD in China. Finally, based on her PhD research, the speaker will present AD translation as an alternative way to creating AD in China to promote it quantitatively and qualitatively, in her particular case, from Spanish to Chinese.
